MISSION
The project "Vocational Education School for Integration" ("Escuela Taller de Integración - ETI) aims at building an
inclusive learning environment for all children. At the same time, the project provides teacher training, improves
existing teaching materials and supports both governmental and non-governmental institutions to follow that path.
Through these activities it supports the Bolivian authorities in translating the progressive legislative framework into
practice.
T
HE SOLUTION THAT HAS BEEN DEVELOPED
In cooperation with the municipalities of Sucre, ETI has taken a leading pioneer role by building up an inclusive pilot
school in Sucre. A community-based rehabilitation (CBR) approach was initiated in the frame of following activities such
as awareness raising, identification of children with disabilities, consultation, physical rehabilitation to parents and other
municipalities. This CBR approach is crucial in order to implement the concept of inclusive education for children with
disabilities. Sport and cultural activities foster the social inclusion of people with disabilities in their communities.
Education, rehabilitation and vocational training are the core components of the programme implemented by the ETI
center teams. Additionally ETI also carries out awareness raising activities. Recently, a virtual classroom with free WIFI
for various computers and tablets has been set up in order to further involve children with disabilities into ICT.
