UTLOOK

The UNCRPD is predicated on a paradigm shift from viewing persons with disabilities as objects to subjects at the heart

of establishing their rights. World of Inclusion and its previous organisation Disability Equality in Education have been

developing this perscpective for the last 25 years in schools asnd colleges in the UK , in Europe and around the world.

There have been many complimentary projects. This work and perspective needs to be publicised and training provided

throughout the world . World of Inclusion and Richard Rieser have been involved in many related projects and what is

needed most is to transform peoples understanding of disability from being seen as an individual tragedy that befalls

those who have an impairment to an understanding that disability is a social oppression that impacts on those who have

a long term impairment and as such the prejudice and sterotypes that reinforce disablism can be challenged and

understood leading to changes in perrception and behaviour.
