VERALL GOAL
/
MISSION
To develop methods and tools to challenge disablist bullying in schools to trial these in six schools with groups of
disabled and non-disabled pupils and for the pupils to then present what they have learnt to their peers. The methods
tools films of the workshops were then made available to pupils, parents and teachers on the Anti Bullying Alliance
Website.
T
HE SOLUTION THAT HAS BEEN DEVELOPED
The work started with developing a guide to disablist language and how to challenge it for the Anti Bullying Alliance in
England. Then a guide for teachers on challenging the ideas that lead to disabilism and disablist bullying was produced.
It was then suggested that trying out these ideas and turning them into tools that teachers could use in class. The work
was developed by disabled people from a social model perspective making children aware of the oppressive history
disabled people have been subjected to. Focusing on positive changes in attitude and behavior to reduce bullying of
disabled pupils in primary and secondary schools.
