MISSION
To train 100 Karen Volunteer Teachers regardless of faith affiliation and genders and send them to 50 Karen villages in
Ayeyarwaddy Region to teach Karen language and culture to children and youths (all inclusive of the disabled ) in 2016

HE SOLUTION THAT HAS BEEN DEVELOPED
Karuna Pathein@ Caritas Pathein has been promoting Karen language and culture by recruiting volunteers since 2010
and sent them to Karen villages to teach Karen langauge and culture during summer vacations ( March to May). This
good practice continues with organization's own resources and location contributions. Every year about 50 young
Karens both Buddhists and Christians alike joined the volunteer team and set out to about 30 villages teaching Karen
language and culture to childern and youths. In the space of 5 years the promotions of Karen language had touched over
200 Karen villages and lives of young Karens in Ayeyarwaddy Region. More awarenesse on acceptance and support to
the disabled persons has to be promoted.
