MISSION
Sport benefits persons with intellectual disabilities in many ways, they evolve a better feeling for their body, experience
what it means to loose or to wait for his or her turn and how to play in a team. But it is hard to apply those new skills
into every-day life. The project Motricitta aims to increase the autonomy and capacity of persons with disabilities to
perform outside in the public. In this way the project wants to favor the inclusion of persons with special needs. The
project is about movement, not only physical, but also mental and cultural to avoid the risk of maintaining rigid and
repetitive behaviors and structures. The special athletes should be encouraged to live free and self confident in the
community.
T
HE SOLUTION THAT HAS BEEN DEVELOPED
The city provides many facilities for training, it is like a fitness trail with obstacles to overcome and goals to reach.
Special athletes practice together with their sport educators gymnastics outside – in the public space and in front of
everybody. These activities require practice and the development of specific capabilities that can be summed up in
three functional areas: accessibility, usability and mobility. Each special athlete is supervised by a wristband allowing the
operators to monitor the psychological signals in real time, which are afterwards analyzed together. Through crossing
the data with the exact location a correlation with the emotional status can be drawn.
