VERALL GOAL
/
MISSION
This project is working on a regional level to expand and improve access to higher education and employment of blind
and other persons with disabilities. The project brings together DPO's, local NGO's and governments to both increase
enrollment in higher education and to reduce dropout rates.
T
HE SOLUTION THAT HAS BEEN DEVELOPED
The project brings together into a working regional network six countries which both develop national plans based upon
their specific needs and at the same time identify common challenges where country solutions can be shared thus
saving time and resources and making greater progress more quickly. For example the Philippines has focused on
developing approaches and training materials that increase access to the S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering,
and Mathematics) areas of curriculum, while Vietnam has pioneered approaches directed at the rapid and sustainable
production of learning materials and Indonesia has made significant strides in achieving public policies that are requiring
that all universities be inclusive of all qualified students with disabilities..
