VERALL GOAL
/
MISSION
The aim of the project is to develop a low-level e-learning offering concerning the topic of aging of people with mental
impairments. This e-learning platform enables professional assistants and family members to inform themselves about
the challenges and requirements of personal centered care of elder people with mental impairments. The project team
is convinced that with an easy accessible online platform sensibility about the subject as well as inclusive and
sustainable support for this target group can be achieved. These are basic requirements for a better quality of life for
elder people with mental impairments.
T
HE SOLUTION THAT HAS BEEN DEVELOPED
The European Disability Strategy 2010-2020 as well as the EU Disability Action Plan 2003-2010 foresee a knowledge
transfer of specific knowhow for specialists in order to increase the service level for elder people with mental
impairments. Aim is to offer to this target group an active, healthy and independent daily life. The content of the online
platform was created after an international assessment of demand and the training requirements for assistants, family
members and researchers on the subject. The online e-learning tool is offered free of charge and is available in five
languages. Interactive tasks and self-tests allow in depth self-studies on the subject.
