and 2 secondary schools
2.

O
UTLOOK
As already demonstrated, the practise can be easily adapted to a different country context. Macedonia is multilingual
and multicultural with significant Albanian, Turkish, Roma and other minority groups from the former Yugoslavia. While
Macedonian - written in Cyrillic - is the official language, there are 6 minority languages recognised which are co-official
in municipalities with minority populations. Open the Windows has implemented the project countrywide taking all of
this diversity into account and has provided both Albanian and Turkish language software in the Latin alphabet, besides
Macedonian in Cyrillic. In cooperation with Ecumenical Humanitarian Organisation in Serbia, the project is now being
successfully implemented on a smaller scale in the multi-ethnic region of Vojvodina and materials are available in
Serbian. There is potential to extend beyond the boundaries of both countries into neighbouring West Balkan countries
using the linguistic and cultural similarities that exist with the facilitation of an appropriate implementing agency or
stakeholder
