MISSION
doctHERs™ is a hybrid social enterprise that is committed to providing disabled people with access to affordable, quality
health care delivered via telemedicine. doctHERs™ aims to provide affordable healthcare to the persons with disabilities
(PWD’s), who are most marginalized as they are unheard, unseen and uncounted in the country, while integrating and
empowering women health care professionals who are currently excluded from the health and wellness workforce in
Pakistan due to family and social constraints.
T
HE SOLUTION THAT HAS BEEN DEVELOPED
doctHERs™ aims to provide quality health care & rehabilitation counseling to the disabled people through a qualified
doctor, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, medical social workers and
rehabilitation psychologists in low income and remote rural areas where such facilities are not available. They use
technology in the form of video consultation to connect a home based doctor to a remotely located patient through
state of the art software via a nurse assisted platform. A live video consultation where doctHERs™ and patient are
connected in real time through a screen and doctor can talk to a patient with a help of a trained paramedic at the
patient’s end. Lack of facilities and mobility are the main hurdles for disabled patients in accessing these services. They
provide a safe environment for disabled people close to their homes and localities. doctHERs™ circumvents socio-
cultural barriers that restrict women healthcare providers to their homes, while correcting two market failures: access
to quality healthcare (for the disabled patient) and access to professional employment (for home-based doctors).
