MISSION
In Afghanistan, children with disabilities commonly visit separate schools. The aim of the organization is to promote
Inclusive Education at the community level, which is adapted to the needs of all children. The target group includes
children with disabilities, girls and the marginalized Kuchi (nomadic) children. The SCA provides services for 81,000
learners of whom 65% are girls. The SCA has established a big network and cooperation with the government. As a
result, the Policy of the Ministry of Education recently concluded the “Inclusive and Child Friendly Education”

HE SOLUTION THAT HAS BEEN DEVELOPED
Mainstream teachers have been trained in areas of disability, child rights, subject knowledge and teaching
methodologies. Mentorship is also offered to from experienced teachers. In addition, problems of accessibility were
addressed and inclusive learning and teaching materials were provided. The organization works closely with disabled
people organizations, who are involved in the creation and implementation of the different projects.

ACTS ABOUT SIZE AND SCOPE
The education program covers 57 districts in 13 out of 34 Afghan provinces. 81.000 learners are housed in 2.600
classes with about 3.000 teachers. The program supports 500 School Management Committees (SMC´s). Parents,
teachers, Imams and local leaders care part of the committee.
The budgetary input varies from year to year. (Figures are estimated in accordance with June 2015 exchange rate).
In 2013, the total education budget was US$5,263,136.75. In 2014, there will be a budget of US$ 6,246, 984.57
whereas in 2015 US$ 6,616,382.39. The money is used for the payment of staff, teachers, teaching and learning
materials, capacity development, and program implementation activities.
