Developmental disabilities include a wide range of intellectual and physical disabilities that interfere with development. They are common and have an impact on the development of independent living skills, socialization and psychosocial adjustment, as well as on schooling. One of the main factors associated with these delays, which hamper normal development is related problems like social difficulties, challenging behaviors and psychopathology (depression, anxiety, chronic anger, poor self-esteem). Without proper diagnosis and treatment these difficulties tend to persist and intensify, affecting the course of life in the future.
