Emotional Intervention in Infancy and Early Childhood (0-3) in Rehabilitation Day Care Centers: A Work Model

Shafi Mashiach - Director, Dual Diagnosis Unit, Professional Director, Early Childhood Emotional Intervention Program, Beit Issie Shapiro

2024

"Early intervention" is a concept that speaks of support adapted to the needs of the toddler in order to advance him in the first years of his life in all areas of development. This concept places emphasis on the family and educational environment that surrounds the toddler and that enables him to develop optimally despite the objective difficulties with which he came into the world.

When it comes to toddlers with developmental disabilities, the importance of early intervention is even more emphasized.

This guide was written with the aim of describing the working model of the emotional care in the rehabilitation day center at Beit Issie Shapiro, its characteristics and components, as well as the ways of its operation and the functions required for this. In addition, the purpose of the model is to suggest ways for the implementation and assimilation of the model in all rehabilitation day care centers in the State of Israel.

The booklet was written In collaboration with the Early Intervention Emotional Therapy Staff: Orit Bichler, Anat Langbord and Anat Tzur.
